TERMS AND CONDITIONS
By using the Excalibur Minecraft server, participants accept and commit to the following terms, conditions and rules of proper behaviour:
Rules of proper behaviour:
1. Don’t share the world address, nor any account information that you have/get with any outsiders.
2. Behave responsibly while taking your school/institution rules and regulations into account. Don’t destroy buildings built by other participants. Don’t disturb, harm or grief others or their building work. Don’t spam the in-game text chat.
3. Don’t use offending or insulting language.
4. Report any rule violations to your teacher or the project personnel.
These terms and conditions are presented also inside the game when accessing the server. If you do not consent to the terms and conditions and the processing of personal data as described below, you are not allowed to access the server. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions will result in blocking access to the server.
PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA
This announcement describes how your personal data is processed in EXCALIBUR 2022-2025 project (2021-1-FI01-KA220-SCH-000029713).

Purpose for the processing:
Excalibur is a research project aimed at supporting CLIL and LOTE teaching in virtual worlds, such as Minecraft and Luanti. As part of the project, educational scenarios have been created in these virtual worlds. Some of these scenarios created in Minecraft are available as examples and inspiration, and they can be visited on a dedicated Minecraft server. Teachers can request access to the server for themselves and/or their students in order to make further international Minecraft projects.
We collect data in order to grant secure access to the server and to ensure a safe playing environment among visitors.
Data subjects are not subjected to automated decision making.
Legal basis of processing of personal data:
Personal data is processed on the following basis in accordance with Article 6 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation: Consent of data subject
Categories and collection of personal data
By filling out the form to request access to the game server, you provide us with the following information:
- full name
- phone number
- email address
- name, contact email and location of your school/institution
When accessing the game server, you provide us with the following information:
- IP-address
- game version number
- in-game player name
- in-game actions, such as chat messages
Recipients of personal data:
Data is not shared outside the Excalibur research group.
Third countries to which data is transferred:
Personal data will not be transferred outside the EU or EEA countries.
Processing of personal data during and after the project:
Data will be processed to provide you with access to the game server. If you no longer wish to access the server, you can inform us as outlined below, and personal data will be deleted.
In-game data may be used anonymized for research purposes.
Principles of register protection:
Personal data from the form is stored on www.hostingpalvelu.fi servers in Finland.
Data on the game server is stored in a secure server hosted by CSC – IT Center for Science in Finland. More information on the server is available here: https://research.csc.fi/service/cpouta-community-cloud-service/
The use is restricted by means related to the network and access rights.
Rights of data subject:
- You can withdraw your consent and request the erasure of your consent-based data by contacting the contact person mentioned above.
- You can obtain information about whether your personal data is processed, and which personal data is processed. If there are any inaccuracies or errors in the processing of your personal data, you have the right to request your personal data to be rectified or supplemented.
- You can restrict the processing of your personal data in certain situations, such as if you deny the accuracy of your personal data.
- You can file a complaint with the data protection authority if you believe that your personal data has been processed in violation of data protection legislation.
